Project "Safe" Prom
In an effort to prevent the loss of life or injury during this years high school prom season, Epic Community Services, PACT Prevention Coalition of St. Johns County, The St. Johns County School District, The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and St. Johns County Fire Rescue joined together to deliver the Project “Safe” Prom program for St. Johns County Students.
The program was presented to the junior and senior classes of St. Augustine High School (SAHS) on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 10:00AM in the morning.
Project “Safe” Prom is a program that is routinely presented across the nation to junior and senior level students prior to annual prom events. The program was a visual drama of sorts depicting an alcohol related accident that occurs at the conclusion of prom. Drama students from SAHS depicted the students involved in the accident, while local firefighters, law enforcement officers, judges and other first responders acted in the role they would normally serve in during and following a DUI related incident. As you can see from the pictures, the program is highly emotional and is designed to quickly educate the students on the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving.
