St. Johns County is currently accepting applications for the following volunteer Board and Committee vacancies. Please call (904) 209-0300 for more information or to obtain an application.

Architectural Review Committee (3 Regular Members and 2 Alternate)
Purpose of Committee: To ensure enhanced property development while maintaining and encouraging quality character of design within the PonteVedra and PonteVedra /Palm Valley Overlay Districts in line with the goals and objectives of the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan.
Qualifications:

  • Seeking applicants competent in the fields of architecture, design, planning, landscape architecture or other relevant expertise who would also need to fill the below requirements.
  • Seeking applicants who reside in the PonteVedra Zoning District (1 Regular and 1 Alternative)

-OR-

  • Seeking applicants who reside in District 4, but outside of the PonteVedra Zoning District. (2 Regular and 1 Alternate)

Term: Regular members as well as alternates serve a term of four (4) years.
Meeting Schedule: This committee meets every fourth Wednesday of each month from 5–8:30 p.m. in the PonteVedra Beach Branch Library.

Recreation Advisory Board (1 Regular)
Purpose of Committee: An advisory committee that provides new ideas and assists in solving community recreation problems to help ensure leisure time programs and facilities for residents of St. Johns County. The Recreation Advisory Boards primary responsibility is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners.
Qualifications: Must be a resident of St. Johns County.
Term: This term will expire November 15, 2022
Meeting Schedule: This Board meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 3:00 PM in the BOCC Executive Board Conference Room, County Administration Building, 500 San Sebastian View.

Application Submission Deadline: August 24, 2020

Value Adjustment Board (1)
Purpose of Board: To make a determination on petitions, from written recommendations resulting from special magistrate hearings, relating to:

  • Real property assessments
  • Tangible personal property assessments
  • Homestead exemptions
  • Other denied exemptions
  • Disputes arising from granted exemptions, upon the filing of exemption applications
  • Appeals concerning ad valorem tax deferrals and classifications
  • Appeals from determinations due to a change of ownership

Qualifications:  Must be a citizen owning homestead property within St. Johns County. The citizen member appointed may not be a member or employee of any taxing authority, and may not be a person who represents property owners in any administrative or judicial review of property taxes.
Meeting schedule: This Board meets on an as needed basis, up to three or four times a year, in the County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View St. Augustine, Florida.
