Parks & Recreation Updates

St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Facilities Closures Due to Hurricane Irma
The following St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Facilities are closed pending inspections due to Hurricane Irma. Within parks that are open, there may be areas that are closed due to safety concerns:

  • Canopy Shores
  • Flagler Estates Park & Basketball Courts
  • Nocatee Playground - Other areas of the park are open.
  • Riverdale Park East and West are closed.
  • Trout Creek Boat Ramp - Limited access due to river cleanup.
  • Vaill Point Park
  • W. E. Harris Community Center Pre-School Playground

Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park and Parking Lot to Close Intermittently Due to Hurricane Irma Debris Clean-up
Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park and parking lot will be closed intermittently through Friday, October 20 as the site is being utilized as a debris staging area for post-Hurricane Irma cleanup. The park and parking lot will be open Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15 for public use and beach access during the weekend. Heavy equipment will be present on the beach from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily until clean-up efforts are completed. For additional information, please call Beach Services at 904.209.0331.

St. Johns County Equestrian Beach Access Restricted Due to Storm Debris
Due to Hurricane Irma storm debris present on St. Johns County beaches, equestrian access is restricted until debris has been removed and the coastline is deemed safe for horses and riders. St. Johns County would like to thank equestrian beach visitors for their patience during this time.

Vilano Boat Ramp Open to the Public after Hurricane Irma
The Vilano Boat Ramp is open to the public after a brief closure due to Hurricane Irma. The boat ramp and the east side of the parking lot is available for use. The west side of the parking lot remains closed to the public for use as a debris clean-up staging area. During this time of recovery, boaters are urged to exercise caution as floating debris may still be present in the water.
