Outreach Programs

Events and educational programs are offered throughout the year to increase awareness and promote community involvement in St. Johns County. View or download our printable educational outreach postcard.

Facility Tour
St. Johns County Solid Waste Division provides facility tours to individuals, families, and groups throughout the county (including schools, businesses, and government agencies). Learn firsthand about the closed landfill, transfer station operations, and the processing of garbage and recycling after its collected at the curb. To schedule a tour or request a presentation at our education center, please contact our office.

School Presentations
We believe change starts with our next generation. That's why we're committed to educating St. Johns County students about the importance of environmental stewardship. The Solid Waste Division offers several educational presentations that focus on reducing waste, litter prevention, and providing students with a more in-depth understanding of our recycling program. Presentations are offered to classes and school assemblies for grades K-12.

Community Groups & HOAs
We offer support to county residents through public education and community engagement by providing instructional videos and short presentations on garbage, recycling, and yard waste services. If you're interested in having a representative from the Solid Waste Division attend your HOA or neighborhood group meeting, please contact us.

In an effort to protect our environment, St. Johns County offers seasonal community collection days. These are opportunities for county residents to safely dispose of household hazardous waste, electronics, chemicals and rechargeable batteries free of charge. For upcoming scheduled events, please continue to visit our website for updates or contact us directly.
