At the April 16, 2024, St. Johns County Board of County Commission Regular Meeting, Commissioner Roy Alaimo, District 3, issued a proclamation recognizing April 14 – 20, 2024, as Public Safety Telecommunicator Week. Representatives from St. Johns County Fire Rescue and Sheriff’s Office attended the meeting to receive the proclamation.

Public Safety Telecommunicators of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (SJSO) and St. Johns County Fire Rescue (SJCFR) play a vital role in the protection of human life and property in our community. They are the first critical contact our citizens have with emergency services. These dedicated men and women serve as First Responders, ensuring the safety of our community.

The safety of our police officers, deputy sheriffs, firefighters, and paramedics relies on the quality and accuracy of information obtained from citizens who call the St. Johns County emergency communications center. Public Safety Telecommunicators work tirelessly to gather this vital information, enabling swift and effective responses to emergencies.

The Public Safety Telecommunicators of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and St. Johns County Fire Rescue have made significant contributions to our community. Their efforts have led to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and prompt treatment of patients in critical situations.
