New Residential Curbside Collection Provider

The Solid Waste Division provides sustainable solid waste management services, including weekly curbside collections for over 100,000 residential units, ensuring high-quality and timely service to the community.
Service Provider

FCC Environmental Services is the sole provider for residential curbside collection services in St. Johns County (starting August 1, 2024).

Holidays
There will be no garbage, yard waste, or recycling collections on the holidays below.

Residential Garbage Guidelines
- Garbage, recycling, and yard debris must be separated by residents and placed curbside by 6 am on the scheduled collection day.
- Place cans and bags curbside within 3 to 5 feet of the edge of the traveled portion of the roadway.
- Place all household garbage into trash cans or plastic trash bags secured to prevent scattering of waste due to animals or wind.
- Garbage placed in front of vacant lots, lands, or properties will not be collected.
- Non-containerized garbage, excluding bulky waste, will not be collected. No can or bag may exceed 50 lbs.
- Special waste such as tires, construction & demolition debris, and household hazardous waste is not collected curbside.
All household garbage, hazardous waste, and white goods may be brought to either of the St. Johns County Transfer Stations for disposal during operating hours.
Transfer Stations
Items Accepted
Cardboard boxes can be flattened and taken to the Cardboard Recycling Drop-Off Center at either the Tillman Ridge or Stratton Road Transfer Station. No other recyclables will be accepted at the Drop-Off Center at this time.
Household Hazardous Waste can be dropped off at either transfer station. Items include motor oil, oil filters, gasoline, wax, cleaners, soap, pool chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, grout, aerosol cans, antifreeze, adhesives, flea dip, car & appliance batteries, polishes, lubricants, muriatic acid, propane gas cylinders, solvents, thinner, transmission fluid, brake fluid, lighter fluid, fire extinguishers, linseed oil, naval jelly, photo chemicals, etc. Fuel must be transported in an approved container, and the container may need to be left at the drop-off center.
Obsolete Electronics include monitors, televisions, CPUs, laptops, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, keyboards, mice, cables, game hardware, UPS units, external drives, modems, phones, pagers, radios, stereos, VCR’s, tape players, speakers, small kitchen appliances, power tools, health, and beauty appliances.
Items Accepted for a Fee
DISPOSAL FEE – $64.12 per ton (prorated at $0.04/lb. and can be paid in Cash or Check ONLY)
Oil-based paint – $3.25 / fluid gallon
Latex paint – $2.20 / fluid gallon
Fluorescent light bulbs – 60 cents each / 2-4ft bulbs | $1.10 each / 6-8ft bulbs
Waste Tires – $2.75 per tire up to 10 tires, after 10 is $215.00 / ton
Pressure-treated wood – $64.12 / ton
Residential construction & demolition debris – $64.12 / ton
Yard Waste – $64.12 / ton
- Recycle appliances curbside by contacting the Solid Waste Division to schedule a collection.
- Place large, bulky items at the curb next to your regular garbage. This includes:
- couches
- sectionals
- mattresses
- household furniture, etc.
