Unless otherwise specifically stated, the information contained herein is made available to the public by the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) of St. Johns County, a department, or entities thereof and is for convenience only. Any official document should be obtained from the appropriate department custodian.

Neither the BCC, any department, nor entities thereof warrants or assumes any legal liability or responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information, apparatus, product or process disclosed, or represents that the use of any information would not infringe privately owned rights.

In no event shall SJC, its employees, officers, authorized agents and/or representatives, or any third parties mentioned on the web site be liable for any damages or claims of any sort or kind (including, without limitation, incidental and consequential damages, lost profits, damages resulting from lost data or business interruption), unless specifically permitted by State or Federal law, and then only to the extent of such law. Severability

If any word, phrase, sentence, part, section, subsection, or other portion of this User Agreement, or any application thereof, to any person or circumstance is declared void, unconstitutional, or invalid for any reason, then such word, phrase, sentence, part, section, subsection, or other portion, or the proscribed application thereof, shall be severable, and the remaining portions of this User Agreement, and all applications thereof, not having been declared void, unconstitutional, or invalid, shall remain in full force, and effect.

Governing Law/Venue

This User Agreement shall be construed according to the laws of the State of Florida. Venue for any legal action arising under this User Agreement shall be in St. Johns County, Florida.

Third Party Web Sites: There are links to third party Internet websites contained within the St. Johns County website. These sites are not under the County’s control; therefore, St. Johns County does not assume any responsibility or liability for any information, communications or materials available on such linked sites, or on any link contained within a linked site. St. Johns County does not intend these third party links to be referrals or endorsements and are provided as a community service. Each individual site has its own set of policies about what information is appropriate for public access. User assumes sole responsibility for use of third party links.

Linking Policy

Evaluation Criteria

St. Johns County evaluates all suggested links using the following criteria:

  • Is the recommended website an official government-owned or supported website?
  • Does the recommended website provide official government information or services?
  • Does the recommended website complement existing information, products and services on SJC sites?
  • Is the recommended website accessible and applicable to a wide audience?
  • Is the recommended website’s content relevant, useful and authoritative for citizens, businesses and/or government officials?
  • Does the recommended website’s information appear to be accurate and current?
  • Is the recommended website’s approach to the privacy of personal information consistent with SJC’s privacy and security policies?
  • Does the recommended website meet one or more of the following “highly desirable” criteria?
  • The website crosses agency or intergovernmental boundaries (e.g., www.sjcpa.us, www.sjcvotes.us);
  • The website enables citizens, businesses and/or government officials to conduct transactions online (e.g., buying stamps or coins, replacing Medicare cards, and filing taxes);
  • The website provides citizens, businesses and/or government officials with the information they need to interact directly with government organizations (e.g., clearly available telephone numbers, street addresses, e-mail addresses and instructions);
  • The website provides community-level information and services (e.g., Post Office locators, Social Security Office locators, National Park Service Guides and Veterans’ Facilities).

Links to Government Websites

We may add a link to any government website that is publicly available unless directed not to by the agency that owns the site. The SJC website also links to: quasi-government agencies and websites created by public sector/private sector partnerships; state and local government sites (e.g., www.myflorida.com).

Links to Non-Government Websites

In rare instances, SJC links to websites that are not government-owned or government-sponsored if these websites provide government information and/or services in a way that is not available on an official government website. The SJC website provides these non-government websites as a public service only. St. Johns County Government, including the Board of County Commissioners (the primary sponsor of the SJC website), neither endorses nor guarantees in any way the external organizations, services, advice, or products included in these website links. Furthermore, the St. Johns County Government neither controls nor guarantees the accuracy, relevance, timeliness or completeness of the information contained in non-government website links. Featured Links

The SJC website highlights links of special interest to wide audiences by temporarily posting them in a position of prominence on the website. Featured links may include: online transactions; seasonal information; current topics on the minds of citizens, businesses or government officials; community-level services and information; cross-agency portals that enhance the public’s interaction with government; kids’ websites; and new links.

Prohibitions

SJC will not link to any website that exhibits hate, bias, or discrimination. Furthermore, St. Johns County reserves the right to deny or remove any link that contains misleading information or unsubstantiated claims, or is determined to be in conflict with the SJC website mission or policies.

Disclaimer of Endorsement

The information posted on the SJC website includes hypertext links or pointers to information created and maintained by other public and/or private organizations. SJC website provides these links and pointers solely for our users’ information and convenience. When users select a link to an outside website, they are leaving the SJC website and are subject to the privacy and security policies of the owners/sponsors of the outside website.

Thank you for visiting the St. Johns County website and reviewing our privacy policy. We collect no personal information about you when you visit our website, unless you choose to provide that information to us.

Information Collected and Stored Automatically

Public Disclosure

As a general rule, the County does not disclose any personally identifiable information collected online except where you have given us permission, or where the information is requested to be disclosed and is public information under the State of Florida statutes or other applicable laws.

Visitors to the site should be aware that Florida Statute 119 declares that it is the policy of this state that all state, county, and municipal records shall be open for personal inspection by any person, and thus information collected by the County resulting from the use of its websites may be subject to examination and inspection upon request, if such information is a public record and not otherwise protected from disclosure by statute.

Choice

You may decline participation in any activity that asks for information (i.e., surveys or emails). Your choice to not participate will have no effect on your ability to access information on the County’s websites.

Cookies

To better serve you, we occasionally use “cookies” to customize your browsing experience. Cookies are simple text files stored by your web browser and they provide a method of distinguishing among visitors to the websites. Cookies created on your computer by using our websites do not contain personally identifiable information and do not compromise your privacy or security. We use the cookie feature to store a randomly generated identifying tag on your computer. If you have further questions about cookies, the Computer Incident Advisory Capacity Unit that monitors computer problems for the U.S. Department of Energy issued a study on March 12, 1998, of the risks to users of cookies, titled “Information Bulletin 1-034: Internet Cookies“. In certain instances, you will have the opportunity to receive or create a password to access or submit personal information.

You should not divulge your password to anyone and the County will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or email. When you are finished with those applications that are password protected, you should exit the page.

Site Security

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs commercial software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with State guidelines for records management and retention.

Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.

Links to Other Websites

The website has links to many other governmental agencies. In some cases we link to private organizations. Once you click through to another site, you are subject to the privacy policy of the new site.
