St. Johns County Announces January 27 Application Deadline for Rental Assistance Program

The public has until 5 p.m., January 27 to apply for emergency rental assistance to help low-income renters catch up on past due rent and utilities, specifically as they recover from housing instability experienced during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Registration for the program is open for tenants and landlords at www.sjc-era.com while funds remain available.

Shawna Novak, Director of Health and Human Services, said, “Since we first announced this program in October of 2023, the public response has been tremendous. We want to ensure county residents that are eligible for this opportunity can participate as we are projecting to expend all of the funds that were allocated for the program.”

St. Johns County Emergency Rental Assistance (SJC ERA) can provide qualified households with up to 18 months of total assistance, including back rent and utilities, and up to three months of future assistance. Qualified renters in the middle of an eviction proceeding get expedited assistance.
