At the November 7, 2023, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Chairman Christian Whitehurst presented a proclamation to Bill Dudley, Chairman of the Veterans Council of St. Johns County, and Joseph “Mac” McDermott, Director of the Veterans Service Office, recognizing Saturday, November 11 as Veterans Day.

In addition, Dudley and McDermott presented the County Commissioners and Administration staff with challenge coins, honoring them for their continued support and dedication to St. Johns County’s veterans.

This proclamation recognizes the significance of this commemoration and hopes that a grateful Nation might pay appropriate homage to the veterans of all its wars who have contributed so much to the preservation of this Nation and have answered the prayers of millions around the globe.

All non-emergency offices, excluding the library and solid waste, will be closed on Friday, November 10 in recognition of Veterans Day. For more information, the public may visit the County’s website.

On this day, let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of the men and women who stepped forward when America needed them, all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom.
