SJC 101 Pilot Program
As a supporting element of County Administration’s new Charting Performance: A Framework for Open Governance and Efficiency, the Office of Public Affairs is developing a St. Johns County Citizens Academy program. The SJC 101 program is open to St. Johns County residents and business owners.
Goals
The goals of SJC 101 are to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of County departments and their operations, to build social engagement by creating advocates for County’s programs and services, and to develop new leadership to serve on County advisory boards or other roles within the community.
Classes
2025 Schedule TBD
Applicants
Following the 2024 pilot program, a comprehensive SJC 101 will be offered in 2025.
*Please note: Submitting an application for SJC 101 Class Registration does not guarantee an individual a spot in the SJC 101 program. Program participation is limited to the first 20 eligible applicants as determined by St. Johns County. Subsequent applicants will be placed on a waiting list for the next available SJC 101.
FAQs
Do I need to attend each class?
No. We understand this is a time commitment and want to respect your work/life balance. We would like you to attend all four classes, but it is not required.
For May 30, which of the two time slots do I attend?
We will split the class up into two groups. This will allow us to host the participants better at an employee training function so that you can see our staff in action. We will contact you with your time slot. If you are unavailable, we will look to adjust and offer the other time slot.
What should I wear?
This is a casual opportunity to learn more about us and for us to learn about you. Feel free to dress as you are most comfortable. We will be in a classroom setting and take walking tours of operations and equipment.
What should I expect for each class?
Fun and food. We plan to serve a meal during the opening presentation of the three larger classes (May 23, June 6, and Jun 20). After the presentation, there will be hands-on activities with staff to learn more about operations, equipment, and more.
Will I have the opportunity to participate in the full Citizens Academy in 2025?
Yes. As a participant in the pilot program, you will have first right of refusal to be a student in the 2025 Citizens Academy.
