Sheriff’s Tactical Training Facility

Description

This proposed project is for the design, permitting, and construction of a Tactical Training Facility for the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, located at 911 Law Enforcement Way, St. Augustine, Florida. The building will provide flexible spaces that will be utilized for the Sheriff’s tactical training needs, simulating various scenarios and situations. The SJSO staff are currently utilizing similar facilities in other municipalities for this type of training, requiring staff to be away from their areas of duty, and costing the SJSO excessive rental and travel expenses. The proposed facility will be 2-story, approximately 16,000 sf, with provisions for roof-top training. It will also include a conference room for classroom training and scenario debriefing. Having a Tactical Training Facility has been a need of the Sheriff’s Office for quite some time, and it was included in the master development plan for the Sheriff’s Training Complex on Law Enforcement Way. The Fiscal Year 2025 budget for this project is $2,516,942.
