SJC Board of County Commissioners Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month

A special Proclamation was presented to the library staff and volunteers.

During the Sept. 2 St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, a Library Card Sign-Up Month Proclamation for the St. Johns County Public Library System was presented by Commissioner Krista Joseph and accepted by library staff and Library Advisory Board members.

Here is the Proclamation that was presented:

WHEREAS, the St. Johns County Public Library System strives to connect our community by transforming and expanding services to enrich lives and bring people together, making digital technology and information equally accessible to all; and

WHEREAS, a library card gives access to a variety of digital technology and information, making knowledge and ideas available so that people lead more productive and fulfilling lives; and

WHEREAS, libraries contribute to a strong local economy by providing technology and training opportunities that are critical to the success of job-seekers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners; and

WHEREAS, libraries and librarians do more than lend out books, they empower people to explore new passions and interests and pursue a path of lifelong learning; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida, that September 2025 be recognized as

Library Card Sign-up Month

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida, this 2nd day of September 2025.
