SJC Parks and Recreation’s Second Family Color Run 5K Doubles Previous Year’s Attendance

Over 120 people registered for the event

On November 15, 2025, the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department held its second Family Color Run 5K, which saw an impressive increase in participation compared to the inaugural run in 2024. The Office of Public Affairs made a short video to commemorate the event.

“We are thrilled to share that participation in this year’s color run doubled from last year,” said Tess Simpson, Community Program Manager for Parks and Recreation.  “This incredible accomplishment was possible thanks to the dedication of the St. Johns County Parks Foundation, the outstanding volunteers who showed up in force, and the hard-working Parks and Rec staff who gave their time to ensure the event’s success. Their collective efforts truly embody what our department and this community is all about.”

The 120-plus attendees ran a looping path around the St. Johns County Fairgrounds (5840 SR 207, Elkton), getting spattered and sprayed from head to running shoe with food-grade colored powder. Little children in off-road strollers and even dogs got in on the colorful fun. The St. Augustine Disc Golf Club held an informal disc golf clinic for those who stayed after ribbons were handed out to the fastest runners in each age group.

The Family Color Run 5K was made possible thanks to proud community sponsorships, including lead sponsor the YMCA and silver sponsor Urban Air Adventure Park.
