SJC Approves $1.9 Million DeLeon Shores Park Improvement Project

The project will include pickleball courts, an improved dog park, restrooms, and more

At its regular meeting on December 4, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners approved a $1,976,559 construction contract for an improvement project at DeLeon Shores Park (9 Dolphin Blvd. E., Ponte Vedra).

The 4-acre park currently boasts a playground, a skate park, a tennis court, two basketball courts, a pavilion, a grass multipurpose field, and a dog park. The improvement project will include the following:

  • Upgrades to the dog park
  • Completely revamped skate park
  • Three new pickleball courts with lighting
  • Upgrades to the multipurpose field
  • Walking path around the field
  • New restroom building
  • Two new pavilions, large and small

“This was a community-driven initiative,” said Ryan Kane, Director of the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department. “Staff worked hard with residents of the area to come up with the design of the new amenities. It’s great to see the Board of County Commissioners approve funding to enhance a highly used park with aging infrastructure.”

St. Johns County awarded the contract to K&G Construction Co., Inc.
