St. Johns County will host a community open house from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, at the St. Augustine South Improvement Association, located at 709 Royal Road, St. Augustine, to present the finalized plan for the proposed Shore Drive Trail project and gather public input through a community survey.
County staff will be available in an open-house format to provide information on the completed trail plan and answer questions. The public is invited to review the proposal and share feedback on whether they support moving forward with the project.
The proposed Shore Drive Trail would extend approximately 3.25 miles between the Doug Crane Boat Ramp and the Moultrie Boat Ramp. The project includes a 5-foot-wide paved, multi-use path within the County-managed Shore Drive Waterfront Park, utilizing asphalt paving, permeable asphalt in designated areas, and boardwalks in environmentally sensitive locations. The design prioritizes minimal impacts to existing vegetation, drainage patterns, and historically significant resources.
In addition to the open house, St. Johns County is requesting participation in a brief Community Survey to document whether respondents support or oppose the project and whether they are residents of St. Augustine South or other areas of the County. The survey will remain open until March 1, 2026. Responses are limited to one per household. Survey results will be shared with the Board of County Commissioners to help inform its decision on whether to proceed with the project.
This outreach effort supports the County’s Strategic Plan by emphasizing transparency, community engagement, and informed decision-making related to infrastructure investments that affect neighborhood connectivity and quality of life.
The project plans and the community survey will remain available online for the public.
