Florida East Coast Railway to Temporarily Close Race Track Road Railroad for Maintenance

Closure scheduled Feb. 7-10, 2026

Florida East Coast Railway will temporarily close the railroad crossing on Race Track Road near the U.S. 1 intersection beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, to conduct scheduled grade crossing maintenance. The closure is expected to last three days, reopening at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb 10, weather permitting. During this time, vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians will not be able to cross the railroad tracks.

The work and closure are being managed by Florida East Coast Railway, which is responsible for maintenance of this railroad crossing. St. Johns County is sharing information to keep residents informed and help minimize travel impacts.

Message boards will be in place seven days in advance of the closure to notify road users.

Detour Routes

During the closure, detour routes will be clearly marked.

  • Traveling on U.S. 1 from Jacksonville, use Old St. Augustine Road to Bartram Park Boulevard as an alternative.
  • Traveling on U.S. 1 from St. Augustine, use Old County Road 210, then CR 210 to St. Johns Parkway (CR 2209) as an alternative.
  • Traveling from Nocatee, Palm Valley, or Ponte Vedra, use Valley Ridge Boulevard to CR 210 to St. Johns Parkway (CR 2209) as an alternative.
  • Traveling on Race Track Road towards Jacksonville, use Bartram Park Boulevard to Old St. Augustine Road as an alternative.
  • Traveling on Race Track Road going to St. Augustine, Nocatee, Palm Valley or Ponte Vedra, use St. Johns Parkway (CR 2209) to CR 210 as an alternative.

Road users are encouraged to use caution, follow posted detour signs, and allow extra travel time in the area.
