On March 6, 2026, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Ann Taylor, Vice-Chair, Commissioner District 5, participated in the annual Women Build event with Habitat for Humanity of St. Johns County. They had a total of 100 women working together for two days on Habitat for Humanity homes in the community.

Not only did they help build homes for future female Habitat homeowners, but they also networked and enjoyed making new connections throughout the event. The Women Build community knows that more than 60% of Habitat’s homebuyers are women, many of whom are single moms or military veterans. These amazing female volunteers and sponsors work together to help more women overcome the gender barriers to homeownership—women inspiring and empowering other women.
Through Women Build, women can emerge as leaders on the vital issues of affordable housing and equity-building in St. Johns County. Volunteers make a difference in building a brighter, more stable, and secure future for families in need. Special thanks to sponsor partners, Ameris Bank, Florida Power & Light, and UF Health Flagler – St. Johns Care Connect, and the partners of Publix, Skinny Lizard, and Jersey Mike’s. Together, Habitat for Humanity is building a better future through homeownership.
Habitat for Humanity of St. Johns County provides affordable homeownership opportunities for the workforce. Habitat St. Johns has been working in the community for almost 35 years, making homeownership possible for those who would otherwise be unable to live here.
