May 17-23, 2026, Designated as National Public Works Week

Commissioner Taylor presented a proclamation on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners

At the May 19, 2026, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Commissioners Ann Taylor and Clay Murphy presented a proclamation on behalf of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, recognizing May 17-23, 2026, as National Public Works Week.

The proclamation was received by Greg Caldwell, Ben Bright, and Public Works staff.

The proclamation reads:

WHEREAS, the year 2026 marks the 66th annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works Association; and

WHEREAS, the Public Works Department of St. Johns County plays a critical role in maintaining and improving the County’s infrastructure, responding to emergencies, and enhancing the safety and mobility of residents and visitors alike; and

WHEREAS, public works professionals in St. Johns County, Florida focus on infrastructure and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities, and to the public health, high quality of life, and well-being of our residents; and

WHEREAS, these infrastructure systems and essential services—including transportation networks, stormwater management systems, water resources, solid waste services, public buildings, and rights-of-way—could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, including engineers, managers, technicians, and field personnel who serve St. Johns County with commitment and expertise; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida, hereby designates the week of May 17–23, 2026, as

National Public Works Week

recognizing the substantial contributions they make to protecting public health, ensuring safety, and enhancing the quality of life for all.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida this 19th day of May 2026.
