St. Johns County Designates August 12, 2026, as Zero Suicide St. Johns Day

Commissioner Arnold presented a Proclamation on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners

At the August 4, 2026, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Commissioner Sara Arnold presented a proclamation on behalf of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, designating August 12, 2026, as Zero Suicide St. Johns Day.

The proclamation was received by LSF Health Systems, a non-profit dedicated to ensuring access to evidence-based behavioral health care services.

The proclamation reads:

WHEREAS, Suicide is a preventable public health crisis that affects individuals, families, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods throughout our community; and

WHEREAS, LSF Health Systems, in response to this critical need, is working to implement the Zero Suicide model in St Johns County- an evidence-based framework that empowers communities to improve care, close systemic gaps, and reduce suicide deaths; and

WHEREAS, On August 12, 2026, LSF Health Systems will convene the Zero Suicide St Johns Summit – bringing together healthcare professionals, educators, community organizations, businesses, and residents to learn, collaborate, and launch a united commitment to suicide prevention in St Johns County; and

WHEREAS, This countywide initiative encourages every individual and organization to take part- whether by sharing resources, participating in trainings, or implementing best practices- to help create a more compassionate and connected community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida that August 12, 2026, be designated as

ZERO SUICIDE ST JOHNS DAY

Together, we can build a culture that values every life and leaves no one behind.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida this 4th day of August 2026.
