Library announces expanded discount program with local businesses throughout September

The St. Johns County Public Library System (SJCPLS) is celebrating the value of a library card this September for Library Card Sign-up Month with a special discount campaign featuring local businesses across St. Johns County. The “Community Connections” discount campaign offers SJCPLS library cardholders the opportunity to unlock additional savings throughout the month at more than 115 local businesses.

“This program highlights the power of collaboration in our community,” said Alex Barr, Community Engagement Coordinator for SJCPLS. “First launched in 2024 with 34 partners, the number of local businesses showing up for their library system this year reaffirms the commitment of libraries and local businesses to our community. Together, we’re offering even more savings with your library card. Whether you’re craving a sweet treat or need a handyman, there’s something for everyone.”

To take part in “Community Connections,” simply show your new or existing library card at participating businesses across St. Johns County for exclusive deals. A complete list of partners and available deals can be viewed on the SJCPLS website.

“The library card is the smartest card in your wallet all year long,” said Debra Rhodes Gibson, SJCPLS Director. “Signing up for a library card goes beyond borrowing materials or attending programs. Library cards enrich lives, foster belonging, promote literacy, and provide access to information for all.”

Getting a library card is quick, easy and free for all St. Johns County residents. With an SJCPLS library card, patrons gain access to bestsellers, DVDs, audiobooks, and more. They also receive 24/7 access to the SJCPLS eLibrary, where they can check out e-books, read the digital edition of The New York Times, stream movies, or conduct research for work or school projects.
