At the September 15, 2026, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Commissioner Krista Joseph presented a proclamation on behalf of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, designating September 17-23, 2026, as Constitution Week.
The proclamation was received by the Maria Jefferson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The proclamation reads:
WHEREAS, in order to secure the blessings of liberty to themselves and their posterity, our Founding Fathers ordained and established a constitution for our new nation, signing it on September 17th, 1787; and
WHEREAS, each year, on the anniversary of the enacting of the Constitution, we honor the framers of the Constitution as well as the glorious nation built upon the foundation they provided; and
WHEREAS, this annual observance also serves as a time for all citizens to hold dear and celebrate the rights, privileges and responsibilities this document affords to us as Americans; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that all Americans understand and appreciate the provisions and principals included in the Constitution of the United States to better support, preserve and defend it. Without the Constitution, the supreme laws of the United States, “We the People” would not be guaranteed our many freedoms or the benefits of a “government of the people”; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, that September 17th through September 23rd, 2026, be designated as
Constitution Week
