Seeking Volunteers for Third Annual Family Color Run 5K

Community support keeps momentum going – you can help make this year’s event the most colorful yet.

The third annual Family Color Run 5K returns to the St. Johns County Fairgrounds (5840 SR 207 E., Elkton) on November 14, bringing families together for a colorful morning of recreation while offering residents and local businesses opportunities to support the event.

Hosted by the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department, the event kicks off at 9 a.m. and costs just $25 per participant. The run has already attracted more participants than it did in its attendance-doubling second year.

The St. Johns County Parks Foundation is helping secure community partnerships, with First Florida Credit Union serving as the presenting sponsor. There’s still time for businesses interested in supporting the event to explore sponsorship opportunities through the Foundation.

Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers ready to get a little colorful and help make the 5K unforgettable. Color Crew duties may include:

  • Handing out water to keep runners hydrated
  • Throwing colored powder at designated stations along the route
  • Celebrating participants as they cross the finish line and collect their medals
  • Guiding participants along the route and cheering for them
  • Lending a hand wherever you’re needed to keep things running smoothly

Assignments will be based on event needs. If you’re ready to join the crew, register as a volunteer.

The Family Color Run 5K isn’t about setting records or being the fastest. It’s suitable for all ages and fitness levels, whether you are a seasoned runner or a casual walker. The 5K will be on a mostly off-road course where participants will get showered with colored powder along the way. Bring running clothes that you won’t mind turning rainbow-colored until they get washed.
