Commissioner Taylor Helps Recognize Problem-Solving Court Month

Drug Court started in 2022 and Veterans Court started in 2017.

At the May 20, 2025 St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Commissioner Ann Taylor, District 5, presented a Proclamation to celebrate Problem-Solving Court Month. Commissioner Taylor presented the Proclamation to St. Johns County Court Judge Alexander R. Christine. He currently hears criminal and civil cases at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center in St. Augustine. 

Judge Christine also presides over the St. Johns County Adult Drug Court and Marchman Act Court, Chairs the St. Johns County Public Safety Coordinating Counsel and is a current member of the Mental Health Court Collaborative Planning Committee.

Here is the Proclamation that was presented:

WHEREAS, problem-solving courts have been restoring lives, reuniting families, and making communities safer for more than 30 years; and

WHEREAS, since the inception of the St. Johns County Drug Court in 2002, 322 individuals charged with drug-related offenses have completed program requirements; and

WHEREAS, since 2017, when St. Johns County Veterans Court began, 122 justice-involved veterans have completed program requirements; and

WHEREAS, judges, attorneys, treatment and rehabilitation professionals, law enforcement, community supervision personnel, researchers and educators join to form healing communities; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of County Commissioners of St Johns County, Florida that the of month of May 2025 be designated as

PROBLEM-SOLVING COURT MONTH

urging citizens to recognize the significance of problem-solving courts in St. Johns County.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida this 20th day of May 2025.
