Library Advisory Board Member Michael Macnamara Awarded 2025 NEFLIN Library Champion

Award honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional support for a NEFLIN member library

On Friday, Sept. 19, the Northeast Florida Library Information Network (NEFLIN) recognized Michael Macnamara, District 2 representative of the St. Johns County Library Advisory Board (LAB), as its 2025 Library Champion.

Announced annually since 2006, the Library Champion Award honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional support for a NEFLIN member library.

“Michael Macnamara has been a dedicated champion of the St. Johns County Public Library System for many years,” said Debra Rhodes Gibson, St. Johns County Public Library System Director. “From avid patron to District 2 representative, he always puts library users first, whether promoting services, developing programs, or building community partnerships.”

This marks the third time a member of the St. Johns County Library Advisory Board has received the Library Champion Award. NEFLIN serves 24 counties and includes 550 libraries.

Previous recipients include:

  • Mary Geer (2019), who served as Vice Chair of the Library Advisory Board and encouraged a partnership with Southwoods Elementary School.
  • Dr. Patricia Laurencelle (2015), a long-time advocate and supporter of library services in St. Johns County, and an emeritus member of LAB.
