Pet Center Visits
The Pet Center is open for adoptions on a limited basis. We strongly advise you to visit PetFinder.com prior to visiting the shelter to view our available cats and dogs. Kennel tours will be limited to (2) adults only. Appointments are strongly recommended.
Looking for a new feline friend?
Come meet our adoptable cats and kittens at PetSmart and Pet Supermarket in St. Augustine! The fees are $30.00 for males, $40.00 females, and that includes spay / neuter, rabies vaccine & shots. Come and meet your new furry best friend!

Owner Surrender / Euthanasia
Owner Surrender by Appointment Only – We will begin to accept owner relinquished pets from SJC residents on an appointment only. We strongly advise you to use our Resources page to re-home your pet before deciding to bring it to the shelter.
Owner Request Pet Euthanasia by Appointment Only – We will offer the service of euthanasia for SJC resident’s pets on an appointment basis.
Pet Center Fees
All pets released from our shelter, adopted or claimed, must be microchipped. If the pet is not, there is a microchip fee of $10.
Vaccinations Given When Processing Animals
- Dog – Distemper and Bordetella
- Cat – Distemper
Dog Adoption (Includes spay / neuter, rabies vaccine & shots)
- Males: $35 + $10 microchip (if needed) = $45
Senior Citizen Discount (62 or older): $25 + $10 micro-chip (if needed) = $35 - Females: $50 + $10 microchip (if needed) = $60
Senior Citizen Discount (62 or older): $35 + $10 micro-chip (if needed) = $45
Cat Adoption (Includes spay / neuter, rabies vaccine & shots)
- Males: $20 + $10 microchip (if needed) = $30
Senior Citizen Discount (62 or older): $10 + $10 microchip = $20 - Females: $30 + $10 microchip (if needed) = $40
Senior Citizen Discount (62 or older): $15 + $10 microchip = $25
Pre-Approved Pet Rescue Group Adoption (Rabies shot only) – $0.00

- Dog Grooming – $15.00
Includes bath and nail trim only - 1st Impound – $15.00
Boarding per day – $5.00
Processing – $10.00 - 2nd Impound – $25.00

Processing – $10.00 - Owner Surrender – $25.00 per cat or dog over 6 months, and $40.00 per litter.
