St. Johns County Celebrates 2nd Annual Student Shadow Program – Three local high school students from St. Johns County recently completed the 2025 St. Johns County Student Shadow Program, an eight-day immersive program that included tours, activities, and engaging discussions with County leadership and experts across various fields of County operations. 2nd Annual Student Shadow Program


Mission

Our mission is to empower and engage St. Johns County youth in local government operations, involve them in day-to-day County government processes, and foster civic education in the community.

Program Description

The St. Johns County Student Shadowing Program aims to engage and empower local youth by providing them with firsthand experience in county government operations. The program offers students the opportunity to observe and participate in day-to-day governmental processes, fostering a deeper understanding of civic duties and promoting civic education within the community.

The 2026 Student Shadow Program dates will be June 8-16, 2026.

Students will have the chance to interact directly with county officials and staff, gaining valuable insight into local governance, ongoing community projects, and key decision-making processes.

Participants will attend a County Commissioner meeting and other important government events, learning how these activities shape the community’s future. Additionally, students will collaborate closely with county administration and various departments, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how the county effectively manages its services and operations.
