St. Johns County has completed major intersection improvements at State Road A1A and Mickler Road in Ponte Vedra Beach, addressing long-standing traffic concerns and preparing the corridor for future growth. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to highlight this achievement.
The project included the addition of two eastbound left-turn lanes and one westbound left-turn lane on Mickler Road, as well as the construction of a second northbound through lane on State Road A1A. The northbound lane was extended approximately 0.4 miles to the Crossroad Lakes Drive/Lauden Court intersection to improve traffic flow beyond the signal.
These improvements were identified as critical due to projections that the intersection would experience failing levels of service during peak hours by 2030. By completing the project ahead of schedule, the County has significantly enhanced traffic capacity and safety in the area.
The project was developed with extensive support and collaboration from the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization and the Florida Department of Transportation. The Ponte Vedra Beach Citizens Traffic Task Force also fully supported the need for these upgrades.
St. Johns County remains committed to investing in infrastructure that supports community growth and improves the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
