St. Johns County Hosts Successful Beach Cleanup

On January 19, the St. Johns County Solid Waste Division successfully hosted a county-wide beach clean-up event. A total of 720 pounds of trash and over 300 volunteers showed up across seven different sites.

In attendance were County Commissioners Christian Whitehurst and Roy Alaimo, President of St. Johns River State College Joe Pickens and various community activists.

“We’re really excited to have the opportunity to work with so many incredible partners. It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we all work together to keep our county beautiful!” said Solid Waste Outreach Coordinator Matt Denny.

This event was in collaboration with St. Johns River State College for their Viking’s Day of Service. They were joined by sixteen other county departments and local organizations.

St. Johns County will host another county-wide clean up event in May for the start of turtle nesting season.
