Healthcare Career Expo Aims to Strengthen Local Talent Pipeline

Students, Job Seekers Invited to Explore Fast-Growing Healthcare Careers

St. Johns County will host a Healthcare Career Expo on April 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the First Coast Technical College Conference Center, located at 2980 Collins Ave., St. Augustine. The event is designed to connect students, young adults, and job seekers with the wide range of career opportunities available in the healthcare industry and provide direct access to local employers and training institutions.

Hosted in partnership with the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, the expo supports the County’s broader economic prosperity strategy focused on building a strong and sustainable workforce pipeline.

Healthcare remains one of the fastest-growing industries in Northeast Florida, creating demand for skilled professionals across a variety of roles. St. Johns County is experiencing unprecedented healthcare growth, with more than $350 million in building permits pulled for new medical facilities in 2024-2025. These construction projects will bring more than 3,500 new jobs to our region. While physicians and nurses are often top of mind, the industry also offers rewarding careers in laboratory technology, certified nursing assistants, physical therapy, healthcare information technology, and other specialized fields.

Leading healthcare providers scheduled to participate include AdventHealth, Baptist Health, and UF Health. Representatives will be available to discuss career paths, hiring needs, workplace culture, and advancement opportunities within their organizations.

The Healthcare Career Expo will provide attendees with valuable information on local certification programs, degree pathways, financial aid opportunities, internships, and job shadowing programs. Participants will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with healthcare employers, educational institutions, and workforce development partners to better understand the steps required to enter and advance in the field.

The event is open to high school and college students, young adults exploring career options, parents and educators, and individuals interested in pursuing or transitioning into healthcare careers.

Aligning education and training pathways with industry demand is essential to maintaining long-term economic vitality. By connecting students and job seekers directly with local career opportunities, the event is designed to retain talent, support healthcare employers, and strengthen the regional economy.
