St. Johns County Earns Triple Crown Award for Financial Reporting

St. Johns County is just 1 of 403 governments in the U.S and Canada to earn the prestigious distinction.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States (GFOA) named St. Johns County a 2023 Triple Crown Winner for earning three distinct awards for communicating their financial information openly and transparently to the public. St. Johns County is one of just 403 governments in the United States and Canada that received the Triple Crown for fiscal year 2023.
“Earning this prestigious honor illuminates the efforts of both our Clerk and County employees who are good stewards of taxpayers’ dollars,” said County Administrator Joy Andrews. “As we consistently uphold financial stewardship as one of our four core priorities, this recognition affirms our commitment to managing public resources responsibly and strengthening the community’s trust in their county government.”
GFOA’s Triple Crown designation recognizes governments that have received GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, and the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, published by the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s Office, as well as the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, published by the St. Johns County Office of Management & Budget.
“Being recognized as a Triple Crown Award recipient is a testament to St. Johns County’s steadfast commitment to financial transparency and accountability,” said Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller Brandon J. Patty. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and our strong partnership with County leadership to provide taxpayers with clear, accessible information on how their tax dollars are managed.”
Details on the County’s financial reporting, including the Popular Annual Financial Report, are available at www.stjohnsclerk.com/comptroller. Details on the County’s budget are available at www.sjcfl.us/OMB through the resources provided by the Office of Management and Budget.
The Triple Crown designation represents a significant achievement. To qualify, each entity must meet the high standards of all three separate award programs. Each award program recognizes governments that produce reports that transparently communicate their financial stories and meet applicable standards.
