Commissioner Arnold Helps Break Ground on New Cultural Enrichment Center

The Westminster St. Augustine will build a 300-seat auditorium.

On April 28, 2025, St. Johns County Commissioner Sarah Arnold, District 2, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Cultural Enrichment Center at the Westminster St. Augustine retirement community. The center will be a stand-alone building with seating for more than 300 people, full accessibility, excellent acoustics, state-of-the-art A/V, a green room, a pantry, backstage facilities, a pre-function area, and a reception area in an atrium. The facility plans to host local and national touring performances and various community activities.

Commissioner Arnold was invited to attend, offer remarks, and participate in the official ground-breaking ceremony.

Here are her comments:

Good afternoon.

On behalf of the entire St. Johns Board of County Commissioners, I am honored to be here today and be invited to speak.

I will be brief so we can get turning that dirt!

This celebration for the upcoming construction of a new Cultural Enrichment Center that will house a 300-seat auditorium is exciting.

Your website’s tagline is “Live Well, Be Happy—where being happy never gets old.”

That is so true here.

You are not only building a center, you are building connections, relationships, and a lifestyle.

Having quality of life opportunities is essential for St. Johns, and you provide that to this community.

Your team’s accomplishment of the Governor’s Gold Seal for Quality of Care demonstrates your abilities to create and sustain that level of quality.

I want to commend the staff and leadership of Westminster St. Augustine.

You continue to demonstrate leadership in our community and a standard for other businesses in St. Johns County to follow regarding service, value, and excellence.

In closing, as we turn the dirt here in a few moments, let’s all remember we are also turning a page in the story that everyone should know—the story of a community that cares—and that is special.

Thank you.
