Junior Lifeguard Program
2026 Program Information
The St. Johns County Junior Lifeguard program is open individuals 9-16 years old. The program is staffed by St. Johns County certified Open Water Lifeguards. We focus on providing water safety education in an environment that is fun while building teamwork, physical conditioning and respect for each other and the environment.

- Junior Membership – United States Lifesaving Association
- First Aid Lessons and CPR Certification
- Lifeguard Rescue Skills – Swimming, Paddleboard and PWC
- Surfing / Bodyboarding
- Lifeguard competitions and beach games
- Weekly cookout and awards celebration
REGISTRATION OPENS: March 29, 2026
Location: Marine Rescue Headquarters, 366 A1A Beach Blvd, St. Augustine, Florida 32080
Date: Saturday, March 29, 2026 at 8am
Time: Opens at 8 am
Required Form: Registration forms must be submitted in person at the registration on March 29, 2026.
Payment: You will be sent a link for payment once you have a confirmed spot!
Tryouts
Please note: All 1st Year Participants Are Required To Attend a Tryout Prior to Registering!
If you are registering for Session V and are not at least 13 years old they must pass the advanced tryout. The advanced tryout can be completed at any tryout time. All other returning Junior Lifeguards are NOT required to attend a tryout.
Location: Solomon Calhoun Pool
Dates:
- Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 9am
- Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 9am
- Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 9am
Skills: Swim 100 yards without stopping / 5 minute water tread / 10 yard underwater swim
Please note: We will not accept any registration forms at the time of the tryouts. Registration will only be done on TBD
Tryouts consist of:
- Swimming 100 meters unassisted
- Swimming 10 meters underwater
- Treading water for 5 minutes
Session Dates
- Session I: Monday June 1st – Friday June 5th, 2026 (open to 9-16 year olds)
- Session II: Monday June 8th – Friday June 12th, 2026 (open to 9-16 year olds)
- Session III: Monday June 15th – Friday June 19th, 2026 (open to 9-16 year olds)
- Session IV: Monday June 22nd – Friday June 26th, 2026 (open to 8-11 year olds only)
- Session V: Monday June 29th – Friday July 3rd, 2026 (open to 13-16 year olds only)

$200.00 per child per session
