St. Johns County Earns 2025 Certificate of Excellence in Government Communications

St. Johns County was one of only 16 Florida governments to achieve the distinction.
St. Johns County earned the prestigious Certificate of Excellence in Government Communication from the Florida Municipal Communicators Association (FMCA), becoming just one of 16 Florida governments to receive the award.
FMCA is a professional network of individuals providing communications leadership and support in Florida’s cities, towns, and villages. The certificate recognizes local governments whose communications staff have established and are utilizing different tools, resources, and technology to communicate effectively and efficiently with their residents.
“This award is a team achievement for our Office of Public Affairs, and all the communicators and collaborators in the county who work together to create, cultivate, and communicate within our community,” said Wayne Larson, Director of Public Affairs.
This is the third communications award earned by St. Johns County since September 2024. The county earned two national awards from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association for the “Get Hooked” anti-litter communications campaign.
“Floridians consume news through a variety of channels, making it essential for our local government members to effectively reach their residents with timely and accurate information,” said FMCA President Lizzy Kelley, Marketing and Public Information Manager for the City of Tallahassee. “The Certificate of Excellence in Government Communications honors municipal communications offices that demonstrate leadership in developing and leveraging diverse tools to engage and inform their communities.”
“Community trust is one of the six priorities of the county’s strategic plan, and we hope that earning these acknowledgments from our communications peers demonstrates that we are enhancing community trust through proactive communication to foster engagement and build an environment of public participation,” said Larson.
