SJC Announces Ceremony to Celebrate the $1 Million State Appropriation for the Florida Black History Museum

The Florida Museum of Black History Task Force selected St. Johns County as the location for the State’s Black History Museum.

St. Johns County will host a ceremony and $1 million state appropriation check presentation for the Florida Museum of Black History project to be built in St. Augustine.

When: Thursday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m.

Where: Collier-Blocker-Puryear Park Complex, 10 N. Holmes Boulevard, St. Augustine

What: A ceremony to celebrate the $1 million state allocation for Phase I planning and design of the Florida Museum of Black History to be administered through the Florida Department of State.

Who: Confirmed speakers include:

  • Commissioner Sarah Arnold, District 2, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners
  • Rep. Kiyan Michael, District 16, Florida House of Representatives
  • Sen. Tom Leek, District 7, Florida Senate
  • Greg White, West Augustine Community
