St. Johns Golf Club Makes Albatross with 2025 Successes

Acclaimed course and award-winning team continue to earn low handicap

St. Johns Golf Club, owned and operated by the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department, has been enjoying a year full of successes, the most recent being the PGA Junior League qualifier it hosted on July 21. The Office of Public Affairs made a video to commemorate the event, as well as other club achievements.

“PGA Junior League has proven to be a great way to introduce kids to the game,” Director of Golf Wes Tucker said. “In its first decade of existence, it has led a new group of young golfers into the game in a fun and friendly way. The concept fosters a sense of belonging to a team and a community.”

In addition to the PGA Junior League event, July also saw a local Drive, Chip & Putt qualifier hosted at St. Johns Golf Club. At the beginning of the month, the course also launched a brand-new website, giving players a better way to find tee times, learn about upcoming events, and more.

In January 2025, Director Wes Tucker and Assistant Golf Professional Bea Mauricio were honored by the PGA of America North Florida Section and Northern Chapter with awards. Tucker received the Bill Strausbaugh Award, and Mauricio received the PGA Assistant Golf Professional of the Year Award.

The hard-working team behind St. Johns Golf Club is already looking to the future; specifically, the next PGA Junior League event.

“We are currently building our juniors through OP36 and will be recruiting for our 2026 Junior League team this fall,” Tucker said. “These PGA-initiated programs are part of what the team of PGA Professionals here at St. Johns Golf Club is working on to build the next generation of golfers.”
