“Keep Calm and Walk for Cancer” serves as a reminder that cancer touches the lives of us all, whether it be through family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or personal experiences. The West Augustine CRA Steering Committee’s dedication, unwavering commitment, and profound passion have driven them to host this event for the past ten years, aimed at raising awareness within our community. Their primary objective is to honor those who have bravely battled this challenging disease, celebrating the survivors, and paying heartfelt tribute to those who have lost their lives.

LaShawnda Pinkney, the driving force behind the “West Augustine Keep Calm and Walk for Cancer Event,” shared her inspiration for the initiative, saying, “This event was created a decade ago in honor of my dear Auntie Natalie Garden. During my visits with her, I was deeply moved by her unwavering positivity and resilience, regardless of her struggles. Her spirit lives on in our hearts and fuels our commitment to our community through this event. We aim to inspire the fighters and extend our support to the survivors.”
