St. Johns County is actively constructing the State Road 207 Water Reclamation Facility (WRF), a major capital improvement project designed to support long-term growth, expand reclaimed water service, and enhance environmental sustainability. The project is expected to be completed by Summer 2026. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to capture the progress.
The new advanced treatment facility is being built using a design-build approach and will have an initial capacity of 3.25 million gallons per day (MGD), with future expansion capability up to 6.5 MGD. Once operational, the facility will deliver 100% reclaimed water to the surrounding areas and the northwest reuse system for irrigation and other non-potable uses.
The SR 207 WRF was identified in the County’s Anastasia Island and SR 207 WRF Master Plan as a strategic project to divert flow from the Anastasia Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. It also plays a critical role in St. Johns County’s compliance with State Bill 64 (SB64), which mandates reduced nutrient discharges and promotes the use of reclaimed water.
In addition to addressing regulatory requirements, the project supports the County’s broader goals for smart, sustainable growth. By increasing wastewater treatment capacity, the facility will accommodate new residential and commercial development in western and central parts of the County.
The design-build delivery method enables close coordination between engineers, contractors, and County staff, ensuring an efficient construction timeline and a high-quality outcome. The project team is prioritizing sustainability, regulatory compliance, and long-term operational performance throughout the process.
Once complete, the SR 207 Water Reclamation Facility will represent a major investment in St. Johns County’s water infrastructure and environmental future, while strengthening the resilience and reliability of essential public services.
