St. Johns County Recognizes Grace Maceda for Heroic Act Saving a Neighbor’s Life

Commissioner Joseph presented a certificate of recognition on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners

At the April 21, 2026, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Commissioner Krista Joseph presented a certificate of recognition to Grace Maceda on behalf of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners.

Maceda, a 15-year-old student at Bishop Kenny High School, was walking her dog when she found her neighbor, Uli Moir, lying in the road. Moir had gone into cardiac arrest, collapsed, and was completely unconscious.

Without hesitation, Maceda immediately began CPR and called 911. Emergency rescue arrived and continued chest compressions until they were able to regain a pulse. Moir was then transported to a nearby hospital and survived.  She is alive, in large part, due to Maceda’s extraordinary acts of bravery and heroism.

The certificate of recognition reads:

Certificate of Recognition awarded to Grace Maceda in heartfelt recognition of her extraordinary courage and the lifesaving compassion she showed her neighbor, Uli Moir. Grace’s skill and calmness in performing CPR and calling 911 directly saved a life. Her incredible heroism is an inspiration to us all and a powerful example of community care.
