Commissioner Whitehurst presented a proclamation on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners
At the May 5, 2026, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Commissioner Christian Whitehurst presented a proclamation on behalf of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, recognizing May 2026 as Juror Appreciation Month.
The proclamation was received by staff of the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office joined by residents who have recently sat on a jury.
The proclamation reads:
WHEREAS, the right to a trial by jury of one’s peers is guaranteed by the United States Constitution and stands as one of the foundational principles of American democracy; and
WHEREAS, jury service is one of the most direct and meaningful ways citizens participate in self-government and serve St. Johns County; and
WHEREAS, the justice system cannot function without the participation of jurors drawn from the local community, whose service ensures that legal proceedings reflect the conscience and judgment of the people; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida, recognizes the invaluable contribution of citizens who answer the call to jury duty and appreciates their commitment to justice and community service; and
WHEREAS, the Board extends its appreciation to the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office for its continued stewardship of the jury selection process and its commitment to protecting the public trust; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida, hereby recognizes May 2026 as
JUROR APPRECIATION MONTH
Further recognizing May 5, 2026, as a day to honor and express gratitude to all jurors who serve our community with dedication, integrity, and civic pride.
