SJC Opens New Public Service Center to Create One-Stop Shop for Residents

New facility brings County and Clerk of Courts services together in one location

St. Johns County has opened its new Public Service Center, creating a one-stop location where residents can access a variety of County and St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller services. The St. Johns County Office of Public Affairs produced a video to showcase the facility, featuring Clay Murphy, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners, and Brandon Patty, Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller.

Located at 4040 Lewis Speedway in St. Augustine, the Public Service Center is a collaborative effort between St. Johns County and the Clerk’s Office to improve public access, streamline services, and create a more convenient experience for residents. The Clerk’s Office began providing services at the new location on Aug. 3.

The Public Service Center brings several frequently used services together in one location, including recording services, marriage licenses and wedding ceremonies, passport application acceptance, Value Adjustment Board applications, and public records searches. Recording services include deeds, Notices of Commencement, plats, planned unit development maps, and other documents recorded into the Official Records.

The new center also provides access to County permitting services, allowing residents to complete related County and Clerk transactions in the same building. Previously, residents completing certain transactions could have needed to visit multiple locations. For example, someone recording a Notice of Commencement could have needed to visit the County’s Permit Center before traveling to the courthouse, and then returning to the Government Complex.

With the Public Service Center, residents can begin their visit at one of the facility’s service kiosks and receive direction to the appropriate County or Clerk service. Residents completing a Notice of Commencement, for example, begin at the County kiosk before staff guide them through the recording process.

The facility was designed to improve the customer experience with closer parking, additional customer service windows, and a more efficient service environment. The expanded space also provides additional capacity for Clerk services and an improved workspace for staff, helping reduce wait times and allowing customers to complete their business more efficiently.

The Public Service Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Court operations and proceedings, including jury duty, child support assistance, petitions for restraining orders, and traffic ticket payments, continue to be handled at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center, 4010 Lewis Speedway.

The Public Service Center represents a continued effort by St. Johns County and its constitutional officers to improve access to government services, strengthen collaboration, and provide residents with a more efficient and customer-focused experience, supporting the St. Johns County Strategic Plan priorities of Organizational Excellence, Community Well-Being, and Community Trust.
