St. Johns County’s Backyard Buffalo Wins Global Recognition for Award-Winning Yogurts
Backyard Buffalo, a St. Johns County dairy producer, has earned global recognition at the World Championship Cheese Contest, with multiple top finishes across several categories.
Owner and founder Punita Patel led Backyard Buffalo to a second-place finish in the high-protein yogurt category for its lemon shrikhand, a traditional Indian dessert yogurt, and a third-place finish in the drinkable yogurt category for its mango lassi.
The World Championship Cheese Contest is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious dairy competitions in the world, featuring thousands of entries from dozens of countries.
Products that place in the top three are considered among the best globally in their respective categories.
In addition to its top-three finishes, Backyard Buffalo secured several other high rankings:
- Fifth place — Lemon Labneh
- Sixth place — Chili Peanut Raita (high-protein yogurt)
- Seventh place — Chakka (high-protein yogurt)
