Residents interested in making a difference in a child’s life are invited to attend Fostering 101, a free drop-in introductory session designed to help individuals and families learn more about becoming foster or adoptive parents. The event will be held from4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at theSt. Johns County Public Library Main Branch, 1960 N. Ponce de Leon Blvd., St. Augustine. The program is a part of the Health and Human Services Department through their Family Integrity Program. It is a community-based care lead agency contracted with the Department of Children and Families. The mission is to work in partnership with the State of Florida and the local community to develop, implement and manage a highly effective, strength-based community-based system of care for abused and neglected children and their families. It provides different types of intervention, understanding that not one child or family is the same. The vision is that through collaboration with the supportive community, each child will reside in a nurturing, stable, safe home that is free of abuse, neglect, and abandonment.
Behind the SJCenes is produced every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. on WSOS 103.9, with a bi-weekly recap of the previous day’s Board of County Commissioner’s meeting and a featured guest interview for a live radio broadcast. The program is an effort to support the Community Trust priority of the County’s Strategic Plan. The goal is to enhance community trust through proactive communication to foster engagement and build an environment of public participation.
