Reclaimed water is domestic wastewater that has been treated and disinfected to a high degree through a multiple-stage advanced treatment program that eliminates pathogens (solids, organics, and viruses) and still retains nitrogen and phosphorus, such that it can be safely used to irrigate golf courses and residential lawns. Reclaimed water must meet strict water quality requirements established by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). Although reclaimed water meets most of the drinking water standards and is safe for human contact, it is not intended for human or animal consumption.

The purpose of the Recreation Advisory Board is to protect and provide access to the county’s natural resources; to provide recreation opportunities for residents and visitors and to contribute to the county’s economic, social and environmental sustainability and resiliency. The Recreation Advisory Boards primary responsibility is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners.

Restore St. Johns Disaster Recovery Program Intake Center registration ended in May 2020. This County-based housing recovery program was implemented to help eligible St. Johns County homeowners who experienced home damage during Hurricane Matthew.

All right-of-way utility permitting responsibilities are handled through the Engineering Division. Currently this division permits primarily water, sewer, gas, electric, cable, telecommunications and fiber-optic installations. Commercial driveways are permitted through this department if the Development requires a NDRC Review or if the commercial driveway is reconstructed or modified in any way.

This division also ensures that utilities and various other installations within SJC rights-of-ways adhere strictly to the St. Johns County Land Development Code as passed by the Board of County Commissioners in 1999.

The Road and Bridge Division provides general maintenance for all County Roadways and Drainage Facilities, which includes but is not limited to roadway construction, pothole repair, culvert replacements, ditch cleaning, road grading, road side mowing, herbicide spraying, tree trimming and removal.

Since 1976, the Florida Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida (SBDC) has helped more than 35,000 small businesses in an 18-county area. The SBDC provides assistance through management advice and technical training with little to no-cost to the potential, fledgling and/or well-established small business owners.

SJCUD works to maintain and improve the efficiency of SJCUD sanitary collection system and treatment plants and to prevent sewer overflow and backups. The sanitary sewer collection system and treatment plants have a maximum flow capacity of wastewater that can be handled. Rainwater and groundwater entering the sewer system takes up this capacity and can result in sewer overflows, sewer backups in homes, and unnecessary costs for treatment of this water. It can even lead to unnecessary expansion of the treatment plants to handle the extra capacity. These costs get passed on to the consumer.

Social Services Division provides interviewing, screening, and eligibility determination to applicants requesting assistance based on financial hardship. Upon approval, the applicant would be exempt from the County’s solid waste collection and the recycle assessment for homesteaded residential properties. This exemption is established by County resolution, which is based on the Federal Poverty Level.

Recent hurricanes and northeasters have severely eroded South Ponte Vedra Beach (SPV). The proposed project will place sand that is dredged from an offshore borrow area.

189.069 Special districts; required reporting of information; web-based public access.

(1) Beginning on October 1, 2015, or by the end of the first full fiscal year after its creation, each special district shall maintain an official website containing the information required by this section. Each special district shall submit its official website address to the department.
