St. Johns County will host a Community Open House to share information and gather public input on the upcoming Greenbriar Road Widening project. District 1 County Commissioner Christian Whitehurst will be in attendance.

When: Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 5 to 6 p.m.
Where: Bartram Trail High School Auditorium, 7399 Longleaf Pine Parkway, St. Johns

This open house will provide residents with an opportunity to review project exhibits, speak directly with County staff, and ask questions about the planned improvements. There will be no formal presentation, and attendees may arrive at any time during the event.

The Greenbriar Road Widening project will complete a 1.5-mile gap between two ongoing developer-led roadway improvements, creating a continuous four-lane corridor. Specifically, the project will widen the existing two-lane section of Greenbriar Road from east of Longleaf Pine Parkway to Greenbriar Estates Drive, connecting improvements from Veterans Parkway to areas west of Longleaf Pine Parkway.

The project is expected to move through final permitting and bidding in 2026, with construction activity anticipated to begin in late 2026 or early 2027 and continue for approximately 18 months.

“This open house gives residents an opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions, and share feedback directly with our team,” said Commissioner Whitehurst. “Community input plays an important role as we continue planning and delivering transportation improvements that support daily travel throughout the area.”

Project displays, including roadway layout and design plans, will be available for review. The exhibits illustrate how the roadway will be expanded to four lanes and how it will connect to existing improvements along the corridor, including intersections at Longleaf Pine Parkway and surrounding areas.

This project aligns with the St. Johns County Strategic Plan by supporting long-term planning and responsible investment in infrastructure. Improving connectivity along Greenbriar Road will help provide more reliable travel for residents and support the continued delivery of high-quality public services.
