Board of County Commissioners Support Opening of New Medical Facility

When a medical emergency happens, families need care that is close, capable and ready at any hour. AdventHealth Treaty Oaks ER will open to patients July 14 in St. Augustine, expanding access to 24/7 emergency care for people living, working and traveling in St. Johns County.
The 12-bed freestanding emergency department is near State Road 207 and Wildwood Drive, east of Interstate 95.
Equipped with advanced medical technology, the ER is designed to help patients receive timely emergency care closer to home, with a clinical team prepared to respond to urgent and life-threatening needs.
As St. Johns County continues to grow, the new ER adds another access point for emergency care in the community. It is AdventHealth’s first facility in St. Johns County and its northernmost location in Florida.
“Today marks AdventHealth’s first ER in St. Johns County, and it is only the beginning of our commitment here,” said Rob Deininger, president and CEO of AdventHealth’s East Florida Division. “We know trust is earned, and we take that seriously. As this community grows, we are committed to growing with it.”
At the center of AdventHealth Treaty Oaks ER is a team of emergency medicine clinicians trained to provide steady, expert care when patients and families need it most.
“In the ER, people are not thinking about the building. They are thinking about a child, a parent or a spouse,” said Dr. Daniel McDermott, a medical director and emergency physician with AdventHealth. “This is AdventHealth’s first ER in St. Johns County, but the goal is familiar: Be there when families need help, stay steady under pressure and connect people to the right care quickly.”
The ER will also work closely with local first responders, who are often the first to reach patients in a crisis and help guide them to the right level of care. That coordination helps keep emergency care moving when time matters.
“When emergencies happen, every minute matters,” said Deputy Chief Robert Snell, of St. Johns County Fire Rescue. “For first responders, this gives our crews another path to care and one more option, which helps us keep care moving when the call is urgent.”
Patients who need additional care after an ER visit will be connected to follow-up treatment through AdventHealth’s broader network, including specialty, outpatient or hospital-based care when clinically appropriate.
The opening also supports the local economy by creating jobs and bringing continued investment to the area.
AdventHealth Treaty Oaks ER is part of AdventHealth’s growing presence in St. Johns County. The health system opened its first local clinic in November and announced plans to begin construction later this year on a second 12-bed ER in World Commerce Center.
“For more than 20 years, we’ve had a strong presence in neighboring Flagler County, investing in the healthcare infrastructure with a new hospital, cancer treatment center and additional physicians,” said Denyse Bales-Chubb, president and CEO for AdventHealth in St. Johns and Flagler counties. “That same commitment to long-term health is now being extended to St. Johns County. This opening is a starting point, not a finish line. Our work here is just beginning.”
