Race Track Road Widening Project Progressing

St. Johns County’s Race Track Road Capital Improvement Project is approximately halfway complete, marking a key milestone in the effort to improve traffic flow and safety along one of the area’s most traveled corridors. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to highlight the progress.

The project involves the design and reconstruction of Race Track Road from a four-lane rural roadway to a six-lane urban section. The work spans approximately 2,000 feet, beginning at the existing four-lane section at West Peyton Parkway and continuing east to the two-lane section near Bartram Park Boulevard.

Construction crews are actively working to widen the roadway, enhance stormwater infrastructure, and prepare for long-term growth in the surrounding area.

Once completed, the widened corridor will help alleviate congestion, improve safety, and support continued development in northwest St. Johns County. The project remains on schedule, with completion anticipated in the coming months.
