“This program celebrates the power of a library card while featuring the variety of local businesses that make our county special,” said Debra Rhodes Gibson, Library Director. “It’s a win-win partnership that promotes literacy, local commerce, and community.”
First launched in 2024, initially, 34 local organizations. In 2025, the incentive doubled, with 69 businesses joining the effort to support SJCPLS and strengthen community relationships throughout September. Community Connections provides businesses with a unique opportunity to promote their brand and services to over 100,000 library cardholders. Participating businesses will be featured in promotional materials, both online and in print, and will be recognized as valued community partners.
“We believe the Public Library System plays a vital role in our community as a space for learning, education, and access to meaningful resources. Library Card Sign-Up Month is a great opportunity to highlight that impact and encourage more people to get involved,” said Jessi Streator, Director of Administration and Marketing at Mayday Ice Cream, a community partner for the past two years. “It’s been meaningful to be part of that effort, and it’s also a chance for local businesses to support something with a lasting, positive impact.”
SJCPLS will provide signage and marketing support to help drive traffic and awareness. For more information, please email Library-Marketing@sjcfl.us or visit www.sjcpls.org to learn more about the St. Johns County Public Library System and its upcoming events.
