On September 16, 2026, Melissa Bergman, Public Affairs Director for the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, shared details of the new Public Service Center to improve public access, streamline services, and create a more convenient experience for residents, during the Behind the SJCenes podcast broadcast live on WSOS 103.9 FM. - Located at 4040 Lewis Speedway in St. Augustine, the Public Service Center is a collaborative effort between St. Johns County and the Clerk’s Office.
- The Public Service Center brings several frequently used services together in one location, including recording services, marriage licenses and wedding ceremonies, passport application acceptance, Value Adjustment Board applications, and public records searches. Recording services include deeds, Notices of Commencement, plats, planned unit development maps, and other documents recorded into the Official Records.
- The new center also provides access to County permitting services, allowing residents to complete related County and Clerk transactions in the same building. Previously, residents completing certain transactions could have needed to visit multiple locations. For example, someone recording a Notice of Commencement could have needed to visit the County’s Permit Center before traveling to the courthouse, and then returning to the Government Complex.
Bergman also promoted upcoming special events:
- The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office, in partnership with the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, hosts the annual St. Johns County–Israel Friendship Day at the St. Johns County Administration Building. The 2026 event will be on November 3. Here is a video from the 2025 event.
- The Clerk’s Office, along with the County’s Health and Human Services’ Family Integrity Program, hosts the annual National Adoption Day ceremony. The 2026 event is set for November 20. Here is a video from the 2025 event.
- The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office holds a special Passport Saturday Event. The next date has not been set yet. For details, contact the Public Affairs Office at (904) 819-3600 or publicaffairs@stjohnsclerk.com.
